Expanded Service Offerings Lead To One Stop Partner Advantage

Spectrum Plastics Group was formed in 2007 by integrating long – term, highly experienced service providers in the plastic injection molding industry. Currently, Spectrum Plastics Group operates contract manufacturing facilities in Minneapolis, MN and Ansonia, CT and rapid prototyping facilities in Westminster, CO and Brewster, NY. Each company provided an area of expertise that would enhance the service offerings of the total group. Today, Spectrum Plastics Group is your One Stop Partner for injection molding services.

Contract Manufacturing Facilities

MINNESOTA - Since 1958, this facility has been involved in injection molding, assembly, and supply base management as a contract manufacturer to produce a wide variety of components, sub-assemblies, and finished products. Emerging as a leader in processing highly engineered plastics, the Minnesota facility was an industry leader in providing plastic contract manufacturing to customers in highly regulated industries. Focusing on customer's needs for a full service contract manufacturer, Midwest Plastic Components became a leading supplier to the Medical, Aerospace, Defense, and Precision Industrial markets.

As part of their strategic business plan, Midwest Plastic Components purchased another injection molding facility and two prototyping companies to enhance the service offerings and provide more manufacturing location options to its customer base. To articulate the expanded services offered to the customers, the name was changed to Spectrum Plastics Group, as of June 1, 2008.

CONNECTICUT - Spectrum Plastics Group - CT was started in 1967 and is located in Ansonia, Connecticut. The company was founded as a highly engineered processor of injection molded plastics. The company was a pioneer in developing highly engineered and automated reel-to reel molding and continues today as one of the few companies capable of providing this service.

In 1999, a new 66,000 square foot state-of-the-art molding facility was built. The bright work environment with controlled environments was built and conceived with efficiency and safety in mind.

Midwest Plastics Components purchased the Connecticut facility to enhance the services available and offer manufacturing in the Northeast market.

Rapid Prototyping Facilities

NEW YORK - Dynacept Company, Inc. was founded in 1973 and located in Bedford Hills, New York. The company began as a quick-turn conventional Model Maker. Exclusive focus was placed on striving to satisfy the needs of the customer. This was successfully done by investing in the best technologies and focusing on outstanding customer service.

In September of 2000, Dynacept relocated to a 30,000 square foot facility in Brewster, New York. This facility houses the largest SLA service bureau on the east coast, a very substantial rubber molding and urethane casting department, and an unsurpassed rapid tooling and molding department.

Recognizing the need to expand current operations and to offer complete production capabilities, Dynacept was purchased by Midwest Plastic Components. It now operates as Dynacept, A Division of Spectrum Plastics Group.

COLORADO - In January 1990, two gentlemen with strong backgrounds in plastic molding, tooling and prototyping, joined forces to become the founders of Protogenic, Inc.

Protogenic's philosophy is to utilize rapid prototyping technologies to reduce their clients' time to market and product development expenses. Located in Westminster, Colorado, Protogenic has approximately 22,000 square feet of manufacturing space. As the company grew its stereolithography and urethane cast parts services, the quality standards set by the founders established Protogenic's reputation as a high quality leader in the industry.

Protogenic is a professional service bureau that manufactures prototypes and conceptual models using stereolithography (SLA), Laser Sintering of nylon (LS), PolyJet™, and RTV molds and cast polyurethane parts.

Under strong leadership, Protogenic, A Division of Spectrum Plastics Group continues to explore and apply leading edge technologies to produce the finest prototype parts and ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction.
